One of the most important lessons I learned as a child was about the need for prayer. In my very early years, I would spend time with my great grand mother. I don't remember her ever "preaching" to me, but I do remember seeing her reading her Bible every day, and I rememberer praying every night. I could hear her quiet whispers, and I remember being amazed at how dedicated she was. Her life was a great example to me that I think about almost every day for the past 50+ years. I am certain that many of her prayers were for me, and they were powerful.Andrew Murray in this book gives us the practical reasons why prayer is so important not only to us but to those around us. This is a very powerful book and one that can change lives and circumstances if we will apply what Murray suggests. He gives practical and biblical advice including 31 days of "training" on applying prayer in our own lives.

This book has been a very useful read. I liked the way the author set out his teaching all fully supported by Scripture. I was grateful for the careful building up of his teaching to prove the importance of prayer - basically teaching about prayer, more prayer and much prayer and carefully explaining the emotional pruning which must take place before we experience fruitfulness in prayer.
This is a wonderful book on the power of prayer and intercession. It lets you know the importance of praying for yourself and others. The power of prayer and talking and listening to God. A great read.
Although an older book, The Ministry of Intercession... is a good, indepth study of intercessory prayer, a timeless resource in an age when this kind of prayer is not only misunderstood but often overlooked. The only reason I gave it four stars was that the final page was missing in the edition. A bit disappointing but an otherwise contemplative read.

In virtue of His Deity and of His Spirit He can live in us we can pray in His Name, because we abide in Him and He in us."—Andrew Murray shows in this book all the wonderful reasons we should be on our face before God every day, praying in Christ's name for God's promises to come to fruition. God, please help every true believer to commit to daily intercession and to be obedient to the call to pray!
This book is beyond my expectations! Andrew Murray has great insight and knowledge on intercessary prayer. He has an inspired gift of writing and knows well how to impart God's message of truth so it is easily understood. I have since ordered other books that Andrew Murray has written on prayer as well as on humility. My books are underlined and highlighted and I am learning much.
Just completed reading this very helpful book and I would highly recomend it to everyone who is interested in becoming the person who desires to be an intercessor for the lost. It details all the necessary actions we need to take to see our prayers are answered, and number one is living in obediance to the Lord....sin in our lives hinders our prayers being heard.
Andrew Murray provides a great case for prayer, not just as an element of a Christian life, but as the very essence of who we are as Christians. He quotes scripture exceedingly throughout the text. I learned about Murray from the book Kneeling With The Giants in which Murray was the final chapter. His example provided an interesting capstone to all the saints that went before him to help us improve the quality of our prayer life. His is an especially important example for putting prayer of intercession into a God centered context. This has been a very useful text on my own spiritual journey.
